INSTRUCTIONS
Open the breakfast sausage and crumble it into a large bowl. (This makes it easier to combine)
Add the shredded cheese, pancake mix, seasoning salt, and milk (milk helps bind the mixture) to the bowl and use your hands to incorporate all the ingredients well.
Spray your air fryer basket with olive oil.
Use a 1 tablespoon cookie scoop to scoop out individual sausage balls. Roll them gently to round them out, then place them all in your prepared air fryer basket (it’s ok if the sausage balls are touching each other, just make sure not to stack them on top of each other in layers or they won’t cook evenly).
Cook for 10 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
NOTES
Make sure you check for doneness before you take your sausage balls out of the air fryer. Use a thermometer to make sure the internal temperature is 160 F or cut one open to check that the meat is cooked through.
One of the best ways to mix these sausage balls is by using your hands. You can use clean gloves if you’re more comfortable, but using your hands will help break up the sausage and incorporate seasonings more evenly.
This recipe can be doubled to accommodate more hungry bellies, but you’ll want to cook them in two batches, so the air fryer isn’t overcrowded.
You can substitute other types of sausage or cheese in this recipe to suit your tastes.
