How to Make Breakfast Sandwiches in the Air Fryer

  • In a small bowl whisk together 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of milk, and a pinch of salt and pepper until frothy.
  • Spray two small ramekins with non-stick cooking spray and divide the scrambled egg batter between them, then place them in the air fryer.
  • Now place two sausage patties in the airfryer along with the ramekins and cook both on 350 degrees fahrenheit for 10 minutes. (Open the basket and flip the patties half way through if you own an air fryer that needs food to be flipped or the basket shaken.)
  • While those are cooking, slice the 2 english muffins in half and butter each side.
  • Once the eggs and sausages are done cooking, remove them carefully from the air fryer (the ramekins will be very hot) and place both on a paper towel.
  • Now, assemble your breakfast sandwiches in the air fryer itself. First the bottoms of the english muffin, then the eggs, next the sausage patties and finally a slice of cheese. Add the tops of the english muffins and cook for 3 minutes at 350 degrees fahrenheit or until the cheese is melted.
  • Serve hot with a side of hashbrowns!

Storage and Reheating Instructions:

You can store these in the refrigerator for a few days after baking but they are best eaten fresh. If you do have some leftovers, heat them in the microwave for 35-40  seconds to heat the center through, then place them in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes at 350 degrees for a crispier texture.

Substitutions & Variations

You can definitely double this recipe and work in batches if you prefer to make more than two at a time. Just cook all the sausage patties first, set those aside and then use four ramekins to cook the eggs in the second batch. It will double the cooking time but you will get 4 breakfast sandwiches instead of only two.

FAQS & Helpful Tips for Making Air Fryer Breakfast Sandwiches

Why do eggs explode in the air fryer?

This is a myth, eggs do not usually explode in an air fryer while cooking as long as you follow the directions for whatever types of eggs you are making, scrambled, sunny side up, hard boiled, etc.

Can I cook a Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich in the air fryer?

Yes, you can, if you prefer a quicker frozen version. Just follow the instructions on the package.

If I want to use frozen sausages in this recipe, how long would I cook them for?

This recipe is designed to use fresh sausage so you can use the same cook times and heat for the eggs and the sausages at the same time but if you prefer to use frozen, cook them separately from the eggs at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
