Why You’ll Love This Air Fryer Turkey Bacon Recipe
Once you try this recipe, you will always air fry turkey bacon and never cook it on a skillet again.
It’s such a great way to cook up delicious turkey bacon for a quick breakfast, to add to your lunch sandwich, or as a bacon snack (because bacon snacks are the best).
Air frying is my go-to method for cooking all types of bacon, it really is the easiest way and it turns out perfect every single time.
Not only do the slices of turkey bacon come out perfectly crispy, but they also cook quickly and evenly.
Plus, the clean-up is minimal since there’s no need to grease up a skillet (always a good thing).

How To Cook Turkey Bacon In The Air Fryer
- Place your turkey bacon strips in an air fryer basket (or on an air fryer tray) without overlapping.
- Air Fry at 360 degrees F for 10 minutes, making sure to flip them halfway through cooking at the 5 minute mark.
- Use tongs to take the bacon out of the air fryer and place the strips on a paper towel lined plate.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Tips For Cooking The Best Air Fryer Turkey Bacon
- Make sure you lay out a single layer of turkey bacon strips. This will help ensure even cooking throughout all of your strips and prevent uneven crispiness in any one strip over the others.
If there isn’t enough room for all of your strips on a single layer in your basket, don’t be afraid to split them into two batches! - Turkey bacon doesn’t have much fat (which is why so many people like it as a healthier alternative to traditional bacon) so you may find you need to add a little extra oil during the cooking process.
- If you would prefer, you can preheat your air fryer before cooking. I don’t find it to be necessary, but if you’d rather preheat then go ahead, you may need to reduce your cook time by 1-2 minutes if you choose to preheat (check your turkey bacon at the 8 minute mark).
Will Turkey Bacon Cause My Air Fryer To Smoke?
While turkey bacon does have significantly less fat than traditional bacon (and burning fat is what can cause your air fryer to smoke) there are a few things you can do to reduce the chance of a bacon-induced smokey air fryer even more:
- line your air fryer tray with parchment paper or aluminum foil (be sure the parchment paper doesn’t extend more than halfway up the sides)
- add 1-2 tablespoons of water to the bottom of your air fryer tray – this stops the fat from burning and causing smoke
- another popular method is to add a few slices of bread under your air fryer basket to catch the bacon grease.
While some say these methods lead to less mess, I find my air fryer to be super easy to clean anyway so I don’t believe you need to line your air fryer basket at all.
How To Store Leftovers
If you have any leftover turkey bacon it can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
How To Reheat Turkey Bacon In The Air Fryer
You can reheat your turkey bacon in the air fryer by placing it on a preheated air fryer tray or basket. Reheat at 400 degrees F for 1-2 minutes.
You can also reheat your turkey bacon in the microwave by placing it on a microwave-safe plate and heating it up for 15-30 seconds.
What To Serve With Turkey Bacon
You can use turkey bacon anytime regular bacon is called for, but some of my favorites include:
- On a BLT Sandwich – which would make it more of a TBLT sandwich (Turkey Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato).
- With Air Fryer French Toast, drizzled in maple syrup and your favorite toppings.
- As a side to scrambled eggs or hard-boiled eggs (you can cook both in the air fryer too).
- As a snack to eat just on its own.
FAQS
The cooking time of your turkey bacon can vary based on the thickness of your bacon and your specific air fryer model, and your person preference for crispiness. I find 10 minutes at 400 degrees F (flipping halfway through) cooks the perfect turkey bacon.
As with any time you’re cooking crispy bacon, increase your cook time by 1-minute increments until you reach your desired level of crispy crunchy bacon.
Some ideas for your leftover turkey bacon include:
– garnish for salads
– in other recipes like Air Fryer Quiche
– crushed up and sprinkled over Air Fryer Deviled Eggs
Yes!!!! I highly recommend cooking Air Fryer Bacon, it’s my favorite way to cook bacon and is absolutely delicious!
Uncured turkey bacon is made without the use of sodium nitrates, unlike cured turkey bacon. This results in a less processed taste, but it may not have the same shelf life. It also tends to be more expensive.
Turkey bacon is often considered a healthier option than traditional pork bacon as it is lower in fat and has fewer calories.
