HOW TO MAKE THE AIR FRYER APPLE PIE TACOS
- Use a hand held electric mixer to cream the package of cream cheese. Then beat in the ¼ cup heavy cream, ¼ cup powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla until this mixture is smooth. Set this aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the 1 Tablespoon white sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
- Use a pastry brush to brush the ½ cup melted butter onto the mini taco bowls. Then sprinkle on the sugar and cinnamon mixture. (Try to lightly coat the whole shell.)
- Add the cream cheese mixture to each of the baked shells. (You will have about 1 ½ Tablespoons per shell.)
- Open the can of pie filling, and divide that evenly among the cream cheese filled shells. (It will again be a couple of Tablespoons)
- Bake them (in batches to allow for air circulation) at 325 degrees for 10 minutes.
- Remove them from the air fryer basket and dollop on any leftover cream mixture to the tops of each one and drizzle on some caramel sauce.
- These air fryer apple pie tacos may be served warm, but are even better chilled.
HELPFUL NOTES:
- Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature before you start to whisk it. This will ensure that it is nice and fluffy and has an even consistency.
- Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Remember to leave a little space between each taco to allow the hot air to circulate well.
STORAGE AND REHEATING INSTRUCTIONS:
Store these air fryer apple pie tacos in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. (But I guarantee they won’t last that long!!!)
FAQS & SUBSTITUTIONS/VARIATIONS:
Don’t have tortillas but still want to try making these dessert tacos? Use sliced bread instead. Just remember to cut the bread slice into round using a cutter, and then follow the same recipe as is.
Are you a fan of crunchy tacos? All you need to do is dip and coat the tortilla rounds in a mixture of whisked egg and then coat it with some crushed graham cracker crumbs before air frying them.
Your air fryer apple pie tacos taste incredible when served on their own, or a side of vanilla ice cream. You can also drizzle them with some extra caramel or chocolate sauce, and throw on some crushed graham cracker crumbs for a bit of extra texture.

NOTES

- Should I pre-bake the empty shells? I tried it that way to compare. The pre-baked shells do get crispier, but as they sit, they get a little tough. The texture of the shells baked only with the filling in them, is actually much nicer.
- I don’t care for apple pie filling – what else could I use? You could really use anything that you’d like in a cheesecake. You could try any kind of pie filling: cherry, blueberry, or strawberry would be delicious!
- Can these be frozen? Yes, they can be frozen for up to 4 months. Just make sure you seal them up tight, and allow them to thaw in the fridge before serving.
