How to Make Glazed Carrots in the Air Fryer
- Peel and cut carrots into 1-inch diagonal slices (make sure to slice carrots about the same size so they will cook evenly).
- In a large bowl, toss the carrots with melted butter and brown sugar.
- Spray the air fryer basket with olive oil and add the coated carrots to the basket. Spread out the carrots to cover the surface of the basket.
- Cook for 10 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, shaking the basket after 5 minutes to rotate the carrots so they will crisp up on both sides.
- Place the cooked carrots in a bowl (take them out using tongs so the caramelized brown sugar below the grate doesn’t spill out into the bowl) and toss with maple syrup, honey and a pinch of sea salt.
- Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve.
Helpful Notes:
- These glazed carrots are quite sweet. You may want to add less sugar, maple syrup, or honey depending on your taste.
- If the brown sugar begins to caramelize in the air fryer, it may smoke a little. Don’t worry about it. It should stop as soon as you open the door.
- Make sure you clean your carrots well, and if there’s any excess water on them, dry them before placing them in the air fryer. Excess water will stop them from caramelizing as well.
Storage and Reheating Instructions:
Glazed carrots in the air fryer can be saved and reheated later. The sweetness of the carrots and the glaze taste delicious the next day.
IN THE FRIDGE: Store in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
IN THE FREEZER: You can store your leftovers in the freezer for 2-3 months. Make sure you place them in a freezer-safe Ziploc bag and remove as much of the air as possible. If you want to freeze a whole batch, we recommend cooking for a few minutes less, so they don’t get mushy when you reheat them.
REHEATING INSTRUCTIONS: You can reheat your glazed carrots in the air fryer at 350 F for 5-7 minutes.
FAQS
Yes, you can make them in advance, but reheated glazed carrots can tend to be a bit mushy. Make sure you heat them back up in the oven or air fryer instead of the microwave.
While every kid is different and enjoys different foods, glazed carrots tend to be a good option if you’re trying to get your child to try or enjoy vegetables. They’re quite sweet, so those who normally shy away from veggies might be willing to eat glazed carrots!
These glazed carrots have added sugar which may not be considered healthy. However, since they’re cooked in the air fryer, you’re retaining all the vitamins and nutrients of the carrots, unlike some other cooking methods.
