How to Make Apple Crisp in the Air Fryer
- Place 1 teaspoon butter in an 8-inch baking dish, place in the air fryer, and heat at 300°F for 2 minutes, or until melted. Spread the butter around the baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, combine apples, brown sugar, water, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Pour this mixture into the baking dish and cover with aluminum foil.
- Bake in the air fryer at 350°F for 20 minutes or until fork tender. (you may need an additional 5-10 minutes depending on how fat your air fryer model cooks)
- In a food processor, pulse oats, flour, brown sugar, and cold butter until the mixture is crumbly.
- When the apples are finished baking, remove the foil from the baking pan and sprinkle on the topping.
- Bake the apple crisp uncovered for 15 minutes at 350°F.
Helpful Notes:
- These apples were fork tender with this cooking method, but every air fryer is a little different, so your cooking times may change.
- If you don’t have a baking dish, you can easily make one out of foil.
- Use a pastry blender or a fork if you don’t have a food processor.
Storage and Reheating Instructions:
Leftover air fryer apple crisp makes for great leftovers, whether as a dessert, snack, or even breakfast (trust me)!
IN THE FRIDGE: Once the apple crisp is fully cooled, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and keep it at room temperature for 2 days or in the fridge for up to 5.
IN THE FREEZER: Store the apple crisp in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.
REHEATING INSTRUCTIONS: This apple crisp is best reheated in the air fryer at 350°F for about 3 minutes.
FAQS
I like to use a firm, tart apple for this recipe, like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, but Golden Delicious or Gala apples would also be delicious. Â
Yes, you can swap it out for the same amount. I prefer brown sugar because it has a more caramel taste, but white sugar will still be delicious in this recipe.
Yes, otherwise, the apples will not have time to cook properly. Also, putting the topping on uncooked apples could result in a watery apple crisp.Â
