HOW TO MAKE THE AIR FRYER CHICKEN NACHOS
- Slice chicken breast in half, season both pieces in taco seasoning, covering all sides.
- All the chicken to the air fryer basket without overlapping and cook at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for 6 minutes. Open the basket and flip each piece, then cook for another 6 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the basket and let it rest on a cutting board for a few minutes, then cut into strips of shred. (Wipe the basket clean after removing the chicken)
- Place a disposable air fryer basket liner, (or silicone liner or make one out of parchment paper) in the air fryer basket.
- Place the chips in the bottom of the liner.
- Sprinkle the chicken, cheese and black beans on.
- Cook for 3-5 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or until the cheese is fully melted.
- Add tomatoes, green onions and guacamole on top (and any other favorite toppings on as well).
- Lift the nachos out of the basket carefully using the liner, place on a plate and enjoy!
HELPFUL NOTES:
- Remember to keep an eye on the tortilla chips to ensure they don’t end up getting burned.
- Fill the Air Fryer basket, but not completely. Leave a little room for the hot air to circulate well and cook all the ingredients inside.
STORAGE AND REHEATING INSTRUCTIONS:
These Air Fryer chicken nachos taste best when served right away. If you do have leftovers, however, you can transfer them to an airtight container and refrigerate them for up to a day. Then, all you need to do is reheat them in the air fryer until they are nice and crisp again.
FAQS & SUBSTITUTIONS/VARIATIONS:
For this recipe, we’ve used seasoned chicken breasts, but you can totally recreate the recipe with ground chicken or ground turkey as well. In fact, this recipe is actually a great way to put your leftover rotisserie chicken to use.
The best part about these Air Fryer chicken nachos is the fact that you can experiment to your heart’s content when it comes to the toppings. Salsa and guacamole are two classics that you can never go wrong with, but don’t just stick there. You can also top the nachos with chopped tomatoes, chopped jalapeños, sour cream, green onions and even grilled corn.
You sure can! Use a healthier variant of cheese and top the nachos with guacamole and lots of veggies to make this snack a healthier one. You can also make the tortilla chips on your own at home using your Air Fryer, and then use them for the recipe.
