🛒 Ingredients

  • Mini sausages – I used Hillshire Farms Lil Smokies
  • Crescent roll dough – I used Pillsbury crescent rolls
  • Egg
  • Water
  • Everything But the Bagel Seasoning Mix – I used a store brand mix but you can use a homemade mix or try coarse salt, poppy seeds or even sesame seeds. The rolls can also be made without any additional seasoning or salt on top.

How to Make Pigs in a Blanket in the Air Fryer

  • Unroll can of crescent roll dough. Separate the triangles of dough. Cut them into three pieces.
  • Take the sausage out of the package. Rinse and pat dry. Place a sausage at the wide end of the piece of crescent roll. Roll up and set aside.
  • Continue to roll all the sausages in crescent roll dough.
  • In a small bowl mix the egg with the water. Brush over the tops of the sausage rolls.
  • If desired, sprinkle a bit of seasoning mix, coarse salt, poppy seeds or sesame seeds over the top of each sausage roll.
  • Preheat your air fryer according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Place about 12 sausage rolls evenly spaced in the air fryer. Cook for 4 minutes at 350 degrees.
  • Turn sausage rolls and cook for another 3-4 minutes at 350 degrees or until they are evenly browned.
  • Remove and enjoy!

Helpful Notes:

  • Making the mini crescent dogs in two batches gives enough space for each one to cook without touching, so each crescent can cook through to golden brown goodness. If you have a smaller air fryer, cook in more batches.
  • If you prefer the taste of hotdogs, you can use weiners instead. Just make sure to pat them dry and cut them into four pieces as a substitute.
  • Temperature control settings vary according to the brand and model of each air fryer. Check the manual for your particular air fryer if you do not have the same settings suggested in the recipe.

Storage and Reheating Instructions:

Store in a food storage bag or covered container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator. Reheat in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes until warmed through.

FAQS

Can I make these in the oven?

Yes, you can make these in the oven. Just place the sausages rolled in crescent dough on a 9X13 baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 10-12 minutes (or until golden) at 375 degrees F.

Can you use a different type of dough?

If you don’t want to use crescent rolls you can also substitute crescent dough sheets. These are made with the same dough as the crescent rolls except it is not cut into triangles. To use these sheets, start by unrolling it and cutting vertically into 4 pieces. Cut each of these pieces horizontally into strips about 1 inch wide. They can then be rolled around the sausage.
You can also use puff pastry dough. Unfold the sheets. They usually come folded in thirds. Cut the sections apart and then cut strips about 1 inch wide. They can then be rolled around each sausage.

What sauce do you eat pigs in a blanket with?

Serve them with your favorite ketchup, mustard, BBQ or dipping sauce.

How far in advance can you make them?

Pigs in a blanket can easily be made a few hours before you need them. Prep them up to 24 hours in advance and store, covered, in the refrigerator.
