HOW TO MAKE THE AIR FRYER BUFFALO WINGS
- Preheat the air fryer at 400° for 5 minutes. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
- Place the wings in the air fryer basket and place in the air fryer. Set for 400° and air fry for 10 minutes. Flip the wings and spray with cooking spray. Lower the air fryer temperature to 390° and fry for another 10 minutes. Flip the wings, spray with cooking spray and cook for another 5 minutes if frozen.
- While the wings are frying, make the buffalo sauce. Add all the sauce ingredients to a small saucepan and heat till the butter has melted and the sauce seems to start bubbling a little around the edges. Remove from the heat.
- You can coat the wings in the sauce, tossing to coat, or dip the wings in the sauce as you are eating.
HELPFUL NOTES:
- Buffalo sauce got its name from its place of origin: Buffalo, NY.
- Buffalo and hot sauce are not the same thing. Hot sauce is made with peppers, vinegar and salt, while buffalo sauce takes it up a notch and is enriched with butter and other ingredients.
- These wings were fried in a Cosori Air Fryer. Other brands may take more or less time. Check the wings occasionally.
STORAGE AND REHEATING INSTRUCTIONS:
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
FAQS & SUBSTITUTIONS/VARIATIONS:
A great way to get the chicken wings to have that perfect burst of flavor is to first coat them in some of the buffalo sauce, air fry them and then give them another toss in the sauce before you serve.
While air frying as a process should be enough to get you the perfect crispiness on those chicken wings, you can also take it a step further and toss them in some aluminum free baking powder before you air fry them. This will give the wings an additional crunchy texture.
You can enjoy these buffalo wings on their own, fresh out of the air fryer or team them up with a side of ranch dressing, celery sticks and some French fries.
Don’t forget to top the wings with a generous sprinkle of chopped spring onion greens right before you serve.
