HOW TO MAKE THE AIR FRYER FRIED PICKLES
- Drain the pickle chips and pat them dry. Set them aside on a plate lined with paper towels.
- In a mixing bowl, stir together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, cajun seasoning, seasoning salt and cornmeal.
- Place the pickles into the flour mixture in batches and coat both sides well.
- Add as many flour coated pickles to the air fryer that will fit without overlapping and spray them all with cooking spray. (Make sure to coat them well to avoid flour spots).
- Cook for 10 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Open the air fryer and flip all of the pickles, spray the pickles again on the top facing side, then cook for an additional 5 minutes.
HELPFUL NOTES:
- These are delicious on their own but REALLY good dipped in ranch dressing! Air frying fried pickles is a great alternative to cooking in oil because they are much simpler to make and get just as crispy!
STORAGE AND REHEATING INSTRUCTIONS:
These Air Fryer fried pickles taste best when they are enjoyed fresh and hot- right after they are cooked. If you do have some leftovers that you want to store, remember to use an airtight container to store them.
They can stay fresh in your refrigerator for up to 3 days, and will need to be air fried again to retain their crispiness.
FAQS & SUBSTITUTIONS/VARIATIONS:
The best part about this recipe is that you can adjust the seasonings and spices based on your personal preference. Want some more heat? Throw in some more paprika. For an extra touch of deliciousness, add some grated Parmesan into the mix.
While air frying does make the pickles crunchy and crispy, you can take it a step ahead and use rice flour instead of all purpose flour for the coating, and they’ll turn the air fried pickles even more crispy.
Your Air Fryer fried pickles can be enjoyed as is, or with your favorite dips or dressings. Cheese sauce, Ranch dressing and Fry sauce are all great options to pair with the fried pickles.
