This Air Fryer Sweet Potato Casserole recipe is a quick and easy take on the classic sweet and savory Thanksgiving dish. Topped with the crunchy pecans and the lightly toasted marshmallows, this one’s going to be a star dish on your table!

  • Sweet Potato Yams
  • Brown Sugar
  • Butter
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pecans, chopped coarsely
  • Melted Butter

HOW TO MAKE SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE IN THE AIR FRYER

  • Add the canned sweet potato yams to a large mixing bowl, then use a potato masher or mixer to roughly break them down.
  • Add the brown sugar, butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt and pepper to the yams and mix together until fully combined.
  • Spray a baking dish that fits into your air fryer with cooking spray (we recommend a 7 or 8 inch square pan or round springform pan) then add the sweet potato mixture and smooth out. 
  • In a small bowl, mix together the pecans, melted butter and brown sugar then spread this topping over the sweet potatoes.
  • Air fry at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes.
  • Open the air fryer basket and add marshmallows, close the basket and air fry for 2-3 more minutes or until the marshmallows have browned.

HELPFUL NOTES:

  • To make the sweet potato casserole more creamy and moist, you can also add some heavy cream or full fat coconut milk into it.

STORAGE AND REHEATING INSTRUCTIONS:

Got some leftovers that you want to enjoy later? Just cover the pan and refrigerate it. To reheat it, you can just pop the dish in the microwave until it is warm and ready to be served.

Yes! This is actually one of those recipes that you can make ahead of time. Just assemble everything in the basket, cover it with cling wrap and refrigerate it for up to 3 days. Then, all you need to do is pop it in the Air Fryer and you’re sorted.

What Else Can I Add to It?

While it is best to stick to this classic version of the recipe, which has the perfect balance of flavors, you can still take it a step further and add in some other ingredients and seasonings of your choice. Unsweetened coconut flakes can act as a nice addition along with the pecans. You can also throw in some seasonings to lend the casserole more flavor- clove, allspice and ginger are all good choices.
